Accident W/ Entrapment

Saturday August 7, 2010 - Company 16 and Rescue Company 19 (Lansdowne) were dispatched to Baily Rd and Lansdowne Ave for an accident with entrapment.  Rescue 16 on location to find a 2 vehicle accident with a SUV on top of the other vehicle. Both victims were transported to HUP by Medic 16 and 19-7 and Medic 105.

Building fire with Entrapment  in the 19th

Sunday July 25, 2010 - Company 16 was dispatched on the 2nd alarm fire with people trapped. The company assisted with rescues and fire attack. Company was in service for a 5 hours. Special thanks goes out Norwood Ladder 02 and Boothwyn Engine 40 for standing by at our station while we were on the fire.

Asst Co 76 on a brush fire

Sunday July 4, 2010 - Company 16 was dispatched with a few other companies to asst Darby Twp. on a large brush near City Wide Services on Hook Rd. The company was in service for a few hours helping control the brush fire.

Engine Covers Upper Chichester Township

Tuesday March 16, 2010 - Around 2240hrs Engine Company 16 and Squad Company 51 were dispatched to relocate Station 40 (Boothwyn Fire Company) for cover up while they where on a working house fire in Marus Hook (Station 68). Thanks to R. Fuller 40-9A for calling us. Hope we can help you guys again.

Working Fire in Lansdowne puts Company 16 to work

Sunday March 14, 2010 - Company 16 (Yeadon) was dispatch along with Company 19 (Lansdowne), Company 24 (E. Lansdowne) and Medic 105 (Mercy EMS) to 211 N. Lansdowne Ave. for a building fire. While Ladder 16 was responding fireboard reported PD was on scene with a working fire. 19-9B (R. Russel) on scene with a 2 1/2 story single with heavy fire in the kitchen. Engine 19 and Engine 24 both put 1 3/4 handline in-service to extinguish the fire. Ladder 16 crew did a primary search on the second floor and open the walls to check for fire. When the fire was placed under control the ladder crew asst with salvage and overhaul to check for anymore fire. The company was available a few hours later.

Working Fire First Due local

Friday March 12, 2010 - Companies were dispatched to 667 Parkview Blvd. Medic 16-7 arrived on location with nothing showing from the exterior but reported wires arcing in the attic with insulation on fire. 16-9 arrived on location and assumed Parkview Blvd command. Truck 19's crew went to the attic and used a PW extinguisher on the fire. Crews from 16-2 and Engine 24 went to the second floor and pulled ceilings to find the rest of the smoldering insulation. Crews from Pipeline 19 were to secure the electricity to the house. Crews found that the fire was in the insulation and had also burned the beam. 16-2 placed a 1 3/4" hand line in service to extinguish the fire. After the fire was extinguished crews began salvage and overhaul. Parkview Blvd command then placed the fire under control. Crews continued salvage and overhaul until the rest of the smoldering material was extinguished. A positive pressure ventilation fan was also put into service to remove the remaining smoke from the building. Companies then went available.

Rescue Cover Aston Township

Monday March 8, 2010 - Around 2000Hrs Rescue 16 (Yeadon) was dispatched to relocate Station 72 (Aston Beechwood Fire Company) while they were on a working fire in Upper Chichester Township. Rescue recorded no calls while there. Thanks to 72-9 for the cover hope we can asst you guys again.

Building Fire in Lansdowne

Thursday March 4, 2010 - Companies were dispatched to 22 N Maple Ave. for a building fire. Fireboard advised 19 command that the police were advising nothing going on and 19 Command reduced the speed with the exception of Engine 19. After further investigation crews found a malfunctioning heater with high levels of CO in the building. Ladder 16 assisted with the investigation and ventilation of the building. Crews then went available.

Thursday February 11, 2010 - Engine Company 16 was dispatched to relocate at Station 69 (Lima Fire Company) along Ladder Company 65 (Garden City Fire Company). No calls were recorded while company was covering.

Building Fire, Cover up and asst the 69th

Sunday February 7, 2010 - The day started when the company was dispatched to East Lansdowne for a reported building fire at 212 Hirst Ave. Crews from E. Lansdowne and Yeadon founded a candle burning in the basement. Later in that day the company was dispatched to cover Station 69 (Lima Fire Company) with Ladder Company 65 (Garden City Fire Company). While the crew was at station 69. Command called them to the scene to asst Company 69 at the mall.

Snow bring alot of calls to Yeadon

Saturday February 6, 2010 - Over the next two days the company was very busy due to the snow. The Company had over 20 fire calls due to the snow storm that hit the borough.

Building fire in Darby

Thursday February 4, 2010 - Ladder 16 arrived to asst Engine 04 with the investigation. Crew shut the power off to the washer and dryer. Homeowner was told to call a plumber and electrical.

Building Fire and a Car Fire in Yeadon

Monday February 1, 2010 - Yeadon Fire Company along with Lansdowne and E. Lansdowne was dispatched for a reported building fire. While enroute, the fire company was advised by Deputy Fire Marshall Rufus Stokes that a microwave oven was originally on fire, but the fire was out upon his arrival. Deputy Fire Marshall Stokes also stated that there was still a light smoke condition inside the building. Chief Melazzo held the assignment to 16-2 to assist with ventilation of the building. After assisting with ventilating the residence, company 16 returned to headquarters available. A few hours later the company was dispatched to 743 W Cobbs Creek Pwy for a vehicle fire. 16-2 arrived on scene to find a engine compartment on fire. Crews place attack line service to knock the fire.

Very Busy Day For The 16 House

Wednesday January 27, 2010 - The Company had 5 fire calls for the day. The day started when Company 16 (Yeadon) and Truck Co. 19 (Lansdowne) were dispatched during the early morning hours to 544 Brookside for an AFA. A few hours later just before dawn, the company was dispatched to assist Medic 16-7 with lifting.  During the morning rush hours the company was dispatched to assist Company 19 (Lansdowne) for a report of a working fire at 146 S. Lansdowne Ave. Ladder 16's crew had their hands full on this job. Ladder Co. 16 arrived on scene and was assigned to do roof work and were later asked to assist with fire suppression. A great job was done by all on scene. While the Ladder was in Lansdowne the remainder of the Company was dispatched to 46 Schappet Terr for a building fire. Engine 24 (E. Lansdowne) arrived on scene with steam coming from a dryer vent and recalled the assignment. Company 16 remained off radio for that call. During the evening rush hours, Company 16 was originally dispatched to 620 Cedar Ave at the Sav-A-Lot supermarket for a gas leak. 16-9 (Chief Melazzo) was advised responding that the original dispatch was incorrect and was diverted to 1604 Patricia Dr for a building fire. Chief Melazzo arrived on scene to find smoke coming from one of the Parkview Court Apt. buildings.  During investigation it was determined to be 1601 Patirica Dr . Ladder 16's crew entered the building to find a resident had left an unattended pot on the stove in one of the Apts. The building was ventilated by the crew using high speed postive pressure fans. The company cleared the incident a few minutes later.

Working Fire in Colwyn

Tuesday January 26, 2010 - The companies 04 (Darby #1), 21 (Darby #2), 42 (Collingdale #2), 06 (Collingdale), Engine Company 16 (Yeadon), and RIT Company 19 (Lansdowne) were dispatched to 32 S. 3rd Street for a building fire.  Engine 16-2 arrived on location and deployed a supply line to from a hydrant to Engine 04-2. The supply line was not needed and was never charged. The crews assisted with cleanup and the company then went available.

Building Fire in 19 Local

Sunday January 24, 2010 - Company 16 (Yeadon) was dispatched to assist Company 19 (Lansdowne) to 148 Marshall Rd for a reported building fire. Upon arrival, the fire was determined to be out. Lansdowne Command (19-9) released all apparatus and Company 16 returned to the station.

Gas Leak Inside

Thursday January 21, 2010 - Companies 16 (Yeadon), 19 (Lansdowne) & 04 (Darby #1) were dispatched to 1107 Alfred Dr for a report of a gas leak inside the building. Crews arrived and found that caller was having a neighbor dispute and believes the neighbor is "spraying gas all over the back of the apartments". PD were on scene and were going to handle the situation. There was no gas found inside or outside of the residence by the fire company during their investigation.

Building Fire in 19th

Wednesday January 20, 2010 - Company 16 was dispatch to asst Company 19 (Lansdowne) on a building Fire at 140 S. Lansdowne. Upon arrival, the fire was discovered to be an unattended cooking pot on the stove and the fire was determined to be out. Crew of Ladder 16 assisted company 19 with ventilation and investigation. Company then returned to headquarters.

Building Fire and AFA

Sunday January 10, 2010 - Ladder Company 16 was dispatched to 260 N. Wycombe Ave (Marshall House Apartments) for an AFA. Ladder 16 was recalled shortly after arrival. Later in the day Company 16 (Yeadon), Company 24 (East Lansdowne), Company 19 (Lansdowne), Company 04 (Darby #1) and RIT 03 (Clifton Heights)  were dispatched to 2109 Alfred Dr. for a building fire. 04-1 arrived on scene with 3 story garden style apt building with nothing showing. Crews found a resident had burned food in Apt A. Crews put fans in service to ventilate the building and company was available at 2303hrs

Building Fire and Asst Medic 16-7

Friday January 8, 2010 - Company 16 was dispatched to 14 Lincoln Ave to asst Medic 16-7 with lifting. 105-9A special called 56-7 to the scene for help. Later that day the company was dispatched to the borough of Colwyn. Assist company 04 w/ an electrical fire in the basement. No services from YFC.

AFA in Yeadon

Thursday January 7, 2010 - Company was dispatched for a fire alarm. Upon arrival was met by the homeowner who stated there was an odor and a haze in the basement. Upon further investigation it was determined the home heater had malfunctioned and backfired. The power to the heater was secured and the homeowner was advised to contact a repair company to service the heater. The house was checked with a CO meter and determined to be safe. A smoke ejector fan was used to assist in the ventilation of the basement. Companies returned to service without incident.

Clean up after the accident

Tuesday January 5, 2010 - Yeadon Fire Company was dispatched to Fern and West Cobbs for an accident. Upon arrival, found one vehicle into a tree. Medic 16-7 transported patient to Misericordia Hospital. Seiples towing arrived and removed tree from tree line. TAC 16 and Ambulance 24-7A stood by throughout clean up without incident.

New Years Day starts the year with AFA in Lansdowne

Friday January 1, 2010 - Happy New Year

The first fire call of the new year was a AFA in Lansdowne at 19 S Lansdowne Ave. Ladder 16 was dispatched to 19 S Lansdowne ave for the fire alarm. Engine 19 arrived on location and reported nothing showing from the exterior. Ladder 16 arrived and stood by on location. 19-9A then released ladder 16. The company then went available.
